Our PCL font products provide barcode printing capability for any laser
printer, regardless of make, model or operating system. Less costly than
hardware-based solutions, our fonts produce accurate and fast-scanning barcodes.
Download the PCL barcode font to a PCL-5 or newer laser printer, include
the correct escape sequences in your print file, and send the file to the printer.
The escape sequences instruct the printer to use the apropriate barcode font, and
precision barcodes appear on your printed output. The barcode font will remain
resident in the printer's memory until removed or power is cycled, or can be
stored in printer flash memory or hard disk. Font size is a few kilobytes, and
reduces network traffic considerably compared with graphical barcode generation.
Each font kit contains a large selection of fonts with varying
bar heights plus a range of narrow bar widths and wide-to-narrow ratios. Symbologies
currently available are Code39, Code128, PostNet, UPC, EAN, and Interleaved 2 of 5.
For symbologies requiring a checksum calculation, sample program code is provided.

Early models of Hewlett-Packard laser printers accepted plug-in font cartridges; “Bar
Codes & More”font cartridges included several barcode fonts. The specific
control codes required to print barcodes using this cartridge were embedded in many
enterprise data processing applications. System administrators in need of new
printers must either restrict their choices to printers which can recognize the Bar Codes
& More control codes or change the control codes embedded in their software.
